WILLIAM & EMMA SERCOMBE HEADSTONE
WILLIAM & EMMA SERCOMBE HEADSTONE

In 2015 I visited Abney Park Cemetery with cousin Sue Parkins to find the grave of Emma Giffard Sercombe (1807-1853) and William Goode Sercombe (1801-1869). Their headstone had fallen flat and was buried beneath a thick growth of ivy and nettles. Here it is fully revealed, and although much decayed, the name Emma Giffard Sercombe is decipherable, along with the words: "William Sercombe of the Bank of England".
William Goode Sercombe and Emma Giffard were grandparents of Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922).
