Born in 1857, Henry was the only child of Edward William Sercombe (1825-1885) and Susannah Oakley (1833-1857), and cousin to Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922). Henry’s wife Matilda shares the grave, and the plot is next to that of his cousin Horatio Sercombe (1843-1915).

The headstone bears the following inscription:

In loving memory of my dear devoted husband Henry Sercombe who died June 18th 1916, aged 59 years ~
Rest in Peace ~
Also of Matilda Eleanor wife of the above who died Aug. 22nd 1935 aged 77 years ~
