John Wykes Memorial,
St Andrews Church, South Tawton, Devon
John 'Warrior' Wykes (1525-1591) is credited with completing the building of his family mansion at North Wyke, which dates back to 1242 and still exists. He married Mary Giffard (d.1598) who was daughter of Sir Roger Giffard (1494-1547) and Margaret Cobleigh (1502-1547), from whom Mary Emma Sercombe is directly descended.
