ROGER GIFFARD 1494-1547
Giffard Memorial,
St Hieritha's Church, Chittlehampton
Sir Roger Giffard (1494-1547) acquired the estate of Brighteigh in Devon when he married Margaret Cobleigh (1502-1547) who was sole heiress to her father's estate. This portrait medalion is part of a memorial erected in 1625 by Colonel John Giffard (1602-1665).
Mary Emma Sercombe (1859-1922) is directly descended from Sir Roger Giffard and Margaret Cobleigh.
